Ten convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A persistent false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's gender.

Their complaint states that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his lycée.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
